Getting Accommodations for Kids with ADHD under IDEA and 504: The Easy, The Hard and The Ugly

The Southeast Regional ADHD Conference presents an opportunity to hear from a leading expert on special education law. This live Zoom presentation will provide an overview of the potential accommodations that are often helpful for kids with ADHD at school, the pros and cons of using 504 plans vs. IEPs, and the strategies and pitfalls in obtaining them. The presentation will include content specific to educators, counselors, parents, social workers and medical professionals. 

Presenter: Matt Cohen, founder of Matt Cohen & Associates Cohen is well known for his work in special education law, and he has extensive experience in mental health and human services law. 

The presentation is planned to meet the various requirements for professional development from the following organizations. As these continuing education (CE) applications are approved, we will update this page to reflect the number of approved 

CE hours available:

• Alabama Board of Nursing: 

• Alabama State Board of Occupational Therapy: 1.0 Contact Hours 

• Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners: 1.0 Contact Hours 

• Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification: pending 

• Alabama Education Professionals STI-PD Program: 1.0 Contact Hours 

• National Board for Certified Counselors: 1.0 Contact Hours 

Fee for registration is $20, which includes CEUs and entry for door prizes. All registration fees collected will go directly to the Chris A. Zeigler Dendy Parent Scholarship fund to provide scholarships for the Annual Southeast Regional ADHD Conference in January.
