
Junior Commercial Loan Officer
The Junior Commercial Loan Officer will assist the VP of Commercial Land and Agriculture and members with their lending and banking needs; perform preliminary analysis of loan requests and determine whether, based on lending policy request is worthy of further consideration. Assist with coordinating and scheduling loan processes, such as, title work, appraisals, and loan closings. Assist with communication to members and member service, such as, resolving payment or account issues, scheduling payments, and other member account maintenance request.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Member Relationship Management:
-Assist in building and nurturing relationships with current and prospective business members.
-Serve as a primary point of contact for routine inquiries and provide excellent customer service throughout the loan process.
-Help identify opportunities to cross-sell other credit union products and services to meet members' holistic financial needs.
-Loan Origination and Application Support:
-Gather and review necessary financial documentation from business loan applicants (e.g., financial statements, tax returns, projections).
-Assist in pre-qualifying loan requests and ensuring complete application packages.
-Communicate clearly and effectively with applicants regarding loan requirements and processes.
-Credit Analysis and Underwriting Assistance:
-Support senior loan officers in conducting financial analysis, including spreading financial statements and assessing creditworthiness.
-Learn to evaluate business plans, cash flow projections, and collateral.
-Help prepare comprehensive credit presentations for loan committee review.
-Loan Closing and Documentation:
-Coordinate with internal departments and third-party vendors (e.g., title companies, appraisers) to ensure timely and accurate loan closings.
-Review loan documentation for completeness and compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
-Portfolio Management Support:
-Assist in monitoring existing loan portfolios, tracking performance, and identifying potential risks.
-Help maintain accurate and up-to-date loan files and records.
-Business Development:
-Participate in community events and networking activities to represent the credit union and identify potential business lending opportunities.
-Assist in developing and implementing strategies to attract new business members.
-Compliance and Training:
-Adhere to all credit union policies, procedures, and relevant state and federal lending regulations (e.g., BSA, Patriot Act).
-Actively participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of commercial lending, credit analysis, and industry best practices.
Minimum Requirements:
high school diploma or equivalent
proficient with excel, word, teams, and outlook
basic understanding of financial calculations (percentages, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
ability to balance accounts (similar to balancing a checkbook)
ability to carry on conversations and in-depth discussions and take notes on details of the conversations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, etc.
background in financial field, real estate, or business operations
