Responsibilities:

• Analyzing project plans, specifications, and contract documents to identify project requirements and scope of work.
• Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Conducting thorough take-offs, material, and labor cost estimates.
• Preparing detailed bid proposals for HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and plumbing projects.
• Sourcing and soliciting subcontractor and vendor quotes to obtain accurate pricing for materials, equipment, and services.
• Assessing project risks and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
• Participating in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and subcontractor negotiations as needed.
• Staying up to date on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact project costs and bidding strategies.  

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Estimator in the mechanical contracting industry with a focus on HVAC, piping, sheet metal, and plumbing projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform detailed take-offs and cost calculations accurately.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet timelines.
• Proficiency in estimating retrofit and remodel projects based on conceptual design.
• Proficiency in FastPipe, FastDuct, QuoteSoft or similar on-screen take-off software is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• 2+ years of experience who is a self-starter with experience in mechanical systems and the capability to estimate projects valued up to $5 million.
